Iquitos, Peru

Updated: Aug 7, 2023

I spent almost a week in Iquitos. a town that most people on their way to an Ayahuasca journey wish through. I spent a day with a healer, a day at a monkey rescue retreat, and plenty of time just sucking in the energy. And sucking the fumes from the Tuk Tuk's. There aren't a lot of cars as Iquitos is the largest city in the world not reachable by land. Which makes it fascinating. Everything is flown in, from most of the produce to the meat, grains, you name it. You won't spend much money in Iquitos, a really good meal can be head for $10 U.S. You could spend $20 on sushi, or more at an upscale restaurant, but you don't need to. I particularly loved the food carts on the Boulevard. Really cheap and authentic and the locals are very friendly and happy to serve you.
